Hey Guys,
Just wanted to share some of my highlights from 2010, now that were counting down the days till the big man arrives.
Best Song
I know technically the song came out on an album late last year, but The Sunshine Song from Jason Mraz’s Beautiful Mess - Live on Earth CD/DVD has got a lot of listens from me this year, just diggin the lyrics and the effortless simplicity of it all. So well put together, I love it.
Best Album
This was a hard one, a toss up between Train’s Save Me, San Francisco and The Script’s new album Science and Faith, both absolutely amazing albums, gonna give it to Save me, San Francisco by a nose, great song, after great song, after great song.
Best Gig
‘Train’ Live at The Powerstation in June. I’m a long time fan, with all of their albums in my collection, one of my favourite bands, so stoked they finally came to New Zealand. Never thought it would ever happen and man was it worth the wait!!! They are back in Feb 2011, in Auckland, get your tickets now, you wont regret it!!!
Best Cover
Jamie Cullum does a mean version of Rhianna’s Don’t Stop The Music on his latest album The Pursuit. Just brilliant, check it out!
Best Sporting Moment
Has to be the All Whites last minute extra time goal in the FIFA World Cup to get a 1-1 draw with Slovakia. Thank you, Winston Reid.
Other Highlights
Singing Loyal at the top of my lungs at half time in the World Cup matches at 2am with a bar full of proud kiwi sports fans.
Meeting Rob Thomas in Sydney, tried to play it cool, but failed …a bit. Haha
Going on my first Tour, Thanks Most FM
Tim Finn - Going off on the Winery Tour with a rousing rendition of I See Red. Still. got. it.
Artist I still can’t get enough of…
Matt Nathanson, I stumbled across a live album of his at Real Groovy last year and went online and bought all his albums, still playing them regularly, looking forward to another album due out early next year… check out Matt Nathanson - At The Point, you’ll be hooked.
Looking forward to in 2011
Matchbox Twenty’s New Album. What can I say. Big Fan.
Hitting the road - Look out Wellington and Auckland, I’m heading your way.
Lastly thanks to all of you for your support this year, hope to see you next year. Have a safe Holiday Season and a Merry Christmas!!
Love Ryan
